CNS 5103 – Intro to Care Ministries
Taught by Dr. Curtis McGinnis
This course examines both the theoretical and theological principles behind pastoral care. Students will learn effective skills such as active listening, crisis management, visitation protocols, and pastoral prayer.

BIB 5013 – Old Testament OverviewTaught by John Prince
An introduction and overview of the history and literature of the Old Testament. Students will engage with resources and methodologies for study, emphasizing the relationship of the Old Testament to the New Testament and the Church.

CHM 5103 – Ministry Practices for the ChurchTaught by Prof. Aaron Wager
A practical overview of ministry practices including elements of a worship service, baptisms, the Lord’s Supper, weddings, funerals, and visitations. Students will gain instruction and tools to approach these events with Scripture and pastoral prayer.

In partnership with Hope International University, The School of Advanced Leadership Training (SALT) equips emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills needed for effective and relevant ministry. Courses are conveniently delivered and offer a collaborative student learning environment, designed to be instantly applicable to real-life ministry situations.

SALT students learn from seasoned, well-respected ministry experts. Guest lecturers share their extensive knowledge and first-hand experiences, teaching invaluable principles for exceptional ministry leadership.

Our Certificates of Ministry equip emerging leaders with the knowledge and skills needed for effective and relevant ministry. Through SALT courses, leaders strengthen their practical ministry skills and spiritual health, and form a strong Biblical foundation from which to serve others. Ministry staff, interns, and church members will all benefit from SALT courses. Upon completing 12 units in this SALT program, (four 3-unit courses), each student will receive a Ministry Certificate from Hope International University. Courses also may be audited (no credits).
